Diamondback Release 1

The Release 1 is proof positive that getting a great bike doesn’t always require that you fork over a great big pile of cash. Diamondback has taken their much-lauded Level Link suspension design and constructed a light yet tough aluminum frame that isolates chain forces from trail inputs. Or to employ less tech-geek speak, the suspension doesn’t bob when you stomp on the pedals, yet becomes extremely plush the moment your wheels start smacking roots and rocks.

The entry-level Release 1 is actually anything but “entry.” It's equipped with an SR Suntour Aion suspension fork and X-Fusion 02 Pro R rear shock, Blanchard tubeless-ready wheelset, and a Shimano Deore drivetrain. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes help bring you to a stop, though stopping is probably going to be the last thing you want to do when you bring this bike up to speed.
